Family History Research Over 40 years of Family History Experience experience.

After many years of trying to trace our own family tree, we began to research for others.  If you would be interested in having us look for your ancestors, please get in touch.  We can provide a simple tree, research just one surname or try to get all your family lines as far back as we can, and we don’t charge for our time.   Click here to find further information about our books.

Some researchers make contact who prefer to do their own research but would welcome a view on a challenging ancestral line.  We have many “brick walls” of our own, but are more than willing to see if we can find any clues which may resolve a problem.  Always happy to help to solve a mystery!

Initially, our main areas of research were the North East and North West of England and East Anglia.  Over so many years we have collected references to a huge number of baptisms, marriages and burials, most of which are of our own family names. For those, please see our data pages. For all other areas, see below.

Since moving into research for others, the surnames and areas we have explored have expanded greatly so we have included an extensive list of those on these pages.    The data we have varies greatly but may be worth a glance.  For many, we will also have written chapters for the books we have produced.

On another website - www.usmkgenealogy.co.uk - there are more details of the people we have researched with names and years of birth.  Tell us who is of interest to you and we will send you what we know.  There are also images of some of the parishes we have visited and where these people lived.

Wills are some of the most useful resources which are available to family historians and it was not just the rich and famous who left such documents. We have read thousands of wills over the years; some we have transcribed in full, while there are many others where we have just recorded the names and relationships.  We offer full transcriptions at a small charge  but for any document, we will send the main details at no cost. Inevitably, the majority of those we have are from our own areas of interest -  the North of England and East Anglia - but there are others and this number continues to grow.
